Update on Treeton Medical Centre Premises

As many of you may be aware we have been actively trying to secure new premises to improve services at Treeton Medical Centre.

This started 10yrs ago with the securing of a site in Treeton next to Treeton Miners Welfare Club.  The land was purchased by the PCT (Health Authority), however due to some objections to the site, problems with knot weed etc.; and change in government!  There were delays. The change in government meant new agencies were born (CCG’s and property services).   The process to build a new surgery went through several more stages and due to the Waverley site being a factor.  It was decided at a CCG level a new surgery being built on the Waverley site, not on the original Treeton site.

The new building at Waverley went out to tender to all practices and private companies, we were unsuccessful in our bid and so we will not be part of the Waverley practice.   Further information could be sought from the CCG around timescales etc.

We have managed to secure a small amount of funding to improve the facilities at our practice and are waiting for a licence from property services to alter the building.  The upgrades would see improved waiting and reception area, new clinical room, upgrade to toilet facilities, increase in phone lines.

Due to an increase in patient numbers we among all practices across Rotherham are part of several schemes to help support practices with demands.  These include “Care Navigation” practice staff asking some details regarding your problems; as they are several appropriate services available from physio first to pharmacy schemes.   Some evening appointment and weekend appointments are also available at Broom Lane Medical Centre (Hub) and can be access by contacting the surgery.
